나는 오랫동안 시계의 형태에 깊은 관심을 가지고 있었다. 시계는 인간이 만든 시간의 언어이자 약속이며, 모든 사람에게 공평하게 주어진 시간을 담고 있다.
그리고 그 안에는 각자의 삶, 감정, 움직임이 담겨 있어 하나의 삶을 상징한다고 생각한다.
전통적인 시계의 규칙성을 벗어나, 나는 숫자 대신 인간의 삶 속에서 느끼고 상호작용하는 상징적 언어나 기호를 담은 작품을 만들어냈다.
작품 속 시계의 바늘은 명확한 기준 없이 끊임없이 회전하며, 이를 통해 통제할 수 없는 시간의 흐름을 상징한다.
이번 작품은 식물과 결합된 화분 형태로, ‘마음대로 되지 않는 것들’을 주제로 하고 있다.
이는 우리가 살아가며 계획하고 노력하지만, 예측할 수 없는 변수들이 존재하는 삶을 식물의 성장 과정에 비유한 것이다.
‘화분에 심어진 삶’이라는 컨셉은 우리가 시간을 마음대로 계획하고 조종할 수 없지만, 그 모호함 속에서 자유롭게 성장하며 미래를 맞이할 수 있다는 메시지를 담고 있다.
나는 이 작품을 통해, 삶의 변화 속에서 자신을 발견하고 더 나은 방향으로 나아가길 바라는 마음을 표현했다.

I have long held a deep interest in the form and symbolism of clocks.
Clocks are a human invention—a language of time—and they serve as a shared promise, a structure through which equal time is given to all. Yet within that uniformity, each clock holds an individual’s life, emotions, and movement, representing a singular existence.
Departing from the regularity of traditional clocks, I created this work by replacing numerical values with symbolic language and signs—those that we more intuitively feel and interact with in our daily lives.
In this piece, the clock hands rotate endlessly without a defined reference point, symbolizing the uncontrollable, non-linear flow of time.
This work also combines a flowerpot and living plants under the theme of “things that cannot be controlled.”
It draws an analogy between the unpredictable nature of life and the organic, spontaneous growth of plants.
Just as plants grow in unexpected ways despite our careful planting and nurturing, our lives, too, unfold through variables beyond our control.
Through the metaphor of “life planted in a pot,” this work suggests that even though we cannot plan or shape time as we wish, we can still grow freely within uncertainty and embrace the future with openness.
